Akadama has been used for bonsai over many centuries in Japan and is a type of hard-baked Japanese clay. Benefits of Akadama include a ph neutral environment along with a balance of moisture retention and drainage. Such properties make it ideal as a bonsai soil component or a top dressing material.
Ideal for most types of bonsai particularly coniferous types.
Imported from Japan, Akadama is available in either the regular grain size of 5mm – 8mm or the Shohin grain size of 2mm – 6mm.
