This intermediate level course is designed to help you understand conifer assessment and development.
You will be taught by Nacho Salar, owner of Bonsai Nara nursery in Malaga, Spain, providing you with the knowledge required to confidently look after and develop your trees.
Taking place at the Beechfield Bonsai nursery, this course will start at 10:00 and end at 16:00 giving you a full day of bonsai learning. We will provide drinks, refreshments and a light lunch consisting of sandwiches but you are welcome to bring your own food if you prefer.
The course will be limited to six (6) attendees to enable you to get the most from the time spent with the instructor.

Part 1: Assessing Conifer Material
This practical session will be led by Nacho, after selecting a coniferous bonsai the group will assess its suitability for bonsai and the design options available. The tree will then be styled with discussion, presentation and discussion of options and decisions made by the group.
A further discussion will be held on the further development of the material and what actions would be applied such as: feeding, decandling, needle plucking etc.
The afternoon session will cover the development of your own tree. For this session you are welcome to bring along a Pine or Juniper tree for discussion. You will get guidance from Nacho in taking your tree forward in terms of design and wiring, and then the actions for the following year.
